This is Thai video commentary on FRANÇAIS when it was screened in Nan province in November 09. It's documented by Kittiya Boonmachai, the curator of the programme. Thanks a lot krub!
The stills are the three main characters of this short film ; Pitisak Yaowananon [The Judgement aka. Ai-Fak], Danai Jarujinda [ TV3 actor] and Abhijati Jusakul [ Dang Bailey and young gangsters, The Beach, Rescue Dawn]
Now the short film is in editing and sound mixing process. I will make it in two versions ; TV version and Director's cut version. Actually they are not differnt that much. The story is the same, except for cinematography and cutting style of some scenes. I have to say that it's very fortunate that the producer of this series understand what I have done more than I expected. The main problem for them is 'Too much shaking handheld style' and I think it's not a problem to reduce that kind of style a little bit for compromising with general audience.
I think this is another great experience for me. Thanks for cast and crew for this short film!
The short film will be broadcasted on TV3 on 5th December, around 4 PM.
Here are the first three stills from my new short film 'Worldly' [working tiltle]. Tomorrow is the last day of shooting. Now some part of it is in editing process. This short film might not be satisfying forme with many conditions but it surely broadened my experience.[The first time with [more] full-set production team and the first time with directing the professional actors] Anyway, I try to do my best.
It will be broadcasted on TV3 on December. I'm not sure if TV3 will be ok with my direction but I think it's not too hard for general audience.
CHERRY IS THAI-KOREAN (working title) เชอรี่เป็นลูกครึ่งเกาหลี (ชื่อชั่วคราว)
I just finished shooting my new short film yesterday and I have only a week for post-production to screen in the 'Action Aid short film' event on this Saturday.
'Cherry is Thai-Korean' is about the research process of the young actress who is going to play a role of labour in new TV soap opera.
The film is made for the campaign 'Human Rights' [I made the film for the social campaign again........n.n.n.n.] and still got the crew from POP PICTURES. The campaign is supported by the organization 'Action Aid'.
There are 2 short films in the programme. The one is mine and the other is Songyos Sugmakanan's [The director of Dorm and Hormones] Both of film will be screened together on Saturday 24th, October at the hall in front of B2S in Central World around 6 pm.
While I am in the post-production of that short film, I am also in the pre-production of new short film which is funded by TV3. It's the project about 12 short films [but they called it as 12 episode of series] in the same theme 'Karma'. Actually, they chose only 4 directors to make 3 short films for each but Songyos want to make it only one and calls me and another director to make the other two. So I have another chance to make a film in bigger scale.
My short film is called 'ทางโลก' [The world] The scale of this production is quite big. So this is my new experience. I will seriously meet up costume designer, the casting team, location manager and other crew. I have to cast the stars to be in the film and I created a few action scenes in it. It's truly new for me but I don't know if I can deal with them or not. I just try!. At least it's the real basic to make a feature film in the future, whatever it's indie or mainstream.
Short films of this series will be shown on TV3 from this year's November to Next year's January.
I started this project 2 years ago with the first idea of Jira Mailgool
[P'Kheng]. It is very very long way of scriptwriting but it's very very
great opportunity for me to learn many things more than scriptwriting.
Although I am the first one who writes the script, I can't say this is
my work. It should be claimed as the work of Aumaraporn [P'Aum] ,
Benjamaporn [P'Oh], Adisorn [P'Ping] and me. The script has been
changed a hundred of times and it can't be said who is the scriptwriter
no.1, 2, 3 or 4 because we are sharing idea together so much that I
don't know who is the owner of idea in each part. but it doesn't
matter. I don't care whether the film will be brilliant or just a crap.
It's happy for me to experience the character on the paper moving on
the big screen with the mainstream audience for the first time. This film means to me.
Bangkok Traffic Love Story will be released on October,15th 2009. WATCH THE TRAILER
PS. Thanks P'Ping for letting Ken-Teeradech wear Ror-Dor T-Shirt. I am really impressed. haha.
FRANÇAIS in THE 5TH SINGAPORE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
This is the second festival in which FRANÇAIS will be screened. It is included in the programme 'S-EXPRESS : THAILAND' with another 3 shorts, that is MAN AND GRAVITY [Jakrawal Nilthamrong's short], RED MAN [Nattaphong Homchuen's political short film] and SINK [the animation by Pittaya Weerasakwong].
Luckily, I am selected to be representative of this programme. So the trip will take place on 19-22 September with P'Mod X - Sanchai and P'Cee - Oraporn from Thai Film Foundation. I think we will have a great time.
FRANÇAIS + MR.MEE WANNA GO TO EGYPT + 2 AWARDS in 13TH THAI SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
Today is a happy day. THE 13TH THAI SHORT FILM FESTIVAL's award ceremony took place in the evening.
FRANÇAIS got the second prize and MR.MEE WANNA GO TO EGYPT got the special mention prize in non-student filmmaker competition.
THANKS for the committees who give me a lot of comments and the audience who always support these films and THANKS for the crews at Pop pictures and every actor and actress who make these 2 films beautifully come true
Congratulations to every filmmakers who got the prize
These friends give a life to the festival. Thai short film festival is not the place where everyone rolls down to compete, but it's the place where everyone is happy watching films, sharing the comments [admiring and blaming], meeting each other and have a dinner. Even though we don't find any 'new+inventive+never seen before' style of short films as someone really really wants to, we can find a new friends and have a great time.

GOOD NEWS! FRANÇAIS & MR.MEE WANNA GO TO EGYPT will
be screened in Thai short film festival, in-compettion program [R.D. Pestonji Award -- award for non-student filmmaker] . I am really
excited these two films go together. It's my two first film that was
made in full-scale production and really means to me, a long-time
'super low budget & do-it-by-myself' filmmaker. Moreover, I have no
chance to be in competition program of this festival for 2 years [
BANGKOK TANKS was selected in special political short film program,
Spoken Silence, in 2007 and PENGUIN was in Digital Forum program in
2008 ] So this is my very exciting chance.
Screening Program will be probably released soon. The festival will take place 13-23 AUGUST 2009, at AUDITORIUM, 5TH FLOOR , The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre
'BANGKOK TANKS' is still running.
It will be screened in media art exhibition called 'Total Nowhere Emotion Expansion'
@ Brisbane Festival, Australia. // 12 September - 3 October
Brisbane Festival is Australia's international arts festival. There are various kinds of exhibitions and shows, from dance, theater, video art to music. It's very exciting for me because my work will be shown in something called 'Mobile Gallery'. They said to me it's like gallery on trailer car. so it's interesting Bangkok Tanks will be screened on the something like vehicle. [ it would have been great if it will be screened on a real tank.]
Bangkok Tanks has run for 3 years now. Now every time I look back to this work, I feel sad. I never think the situation in that day will change eveything in Thailand until now. It's not just only 'funny night' like in the film anymore.
